Hi,

I think socks only support UDP(17), TCP(6), ICMP(1) protocols.

But VPN (in the case of IPsec) need protocols ESP(50), AH(51).

So, you can use socks through a VPN tunnel, but you cannot establish a
VPN tunnel through a Socks server...

Hope this will help...

Objet : Question about VPN + SOCKS

Excuse me,
I would like to ask, whether it is possible to use Hummingbird SOCKS
together with VPN connection in Windows XP.

The VPN connection has no "executable" - I create it in dialup
networking I connect from internal company network behind the firewall
having SOCKS server.

As I tried for example Terminal services client in combination with
SocksCap, it works perfectly.

SOCKD5 @=socks-server.name.something:1080
<ip.addresss.of.vpn.server.i.connect.to> 255.255.255.0
^^^^
I try this combination and it does not work

any hint what is wrong/how to trace the problem would be great.

Thank you

Filip
