Socks on Pocket PC?

I have an application that is accessed using a Socks (v5) client on a desktop.
I have the equivalent application for the Pocket PC platform and am trying to get
it to go through the Socks Server but it does not appear to be working.
There is no Hummingbird Socks Client available for the Pocket PC platform. This
appears to be due to the Socks Client being embedded in the OS (see under Proxy
Server Advanced).
Is this Socks Proxy Client not compatible with the Hummingbird Server?
Any clues as to how to get it working?
