Hello
Please reference the included link and also note the name of the socks
configuration file has changed since this FAQ was published to socks.cfg:
http://www.hummingbird.com/products/nc/socks/faq.html#FTP
Many FTP programs (Hummingbird FTP and WSFTP) support a mode called Passive
Transfers. This is where the FTP client program makes a TCP connection to
the FTP server for the Data channel. This mode is supported by the shim.
Unfortunately, this mode is NOT supported by the FTP program from Microsoft.
You need to add the command BIND-MODULE FTP to the socks.cfg file to allow
the Microsoft FTP program to receive incoming connections from beyond the
SOCKS server. You can also specify BIND-MODULE * to allow all programs with
this requirement to operate. Also, we recommend you use the IP address
instead of the host name for Microsoft FTP
Hope this helps.

Subject: is it possible to use Socks to get MS ftp through proxy?
Hi there,
Our client requests that we transfer data from some of our databases to his
databases by using a certain program. This program uses standard Microsoft
ftp, but we only want to allow ftp out of our LAN when using our
socks-proxyserver.
Do I understand your product description right, that Hummingbird SOCKS would
allow my software to run normally while the SOCKS client software redirects
all ftp traffic through our proxyserver?
That would be wonderful :-)
Are you selling the software separately or is it only available in
connection with other products?
Kind regards,
// Holger Miara
